![]() After a couple of minutes a message box shows 'An error occurred installing the TAP device driver.' After confirming and exiting the installer, the adapter appears as an 'Unknown Device' in device manager and isn't available in the adaptersettings in the 'network center' (I don't know the correct name for that since I'm on the German version). Unfortunately, the installer gets stuck at the following line: 'Installing TAP (may need confirmation).' but there is no confirmation prompt for installing the driver. I decided to reinstall the TAP driver and downloaded the latest version 9.21.1 from the OpenVPN website. I realised this as I tried to connect to an IPVanish server the software just wouldn't connect. But suddenly (not sure if a Windows update was involved), the adapter stopped working. ![]() ![]() I had the TAP virtual driver installed and even after the upgrade everything worked fine. So I was upgrading to Windows 10 recently from Windows 7 Home Premium.
